WILD-CER is helping farmers embrace a new LED light barrier system to prevent crop depredation by wildlife in Manora village of Umred Karhandla Wildlife Sanctuary.
Background of the project:
We conducted a baseline survey in which farmers’ crop losses were revealed due to wild animals. The survey was conducted in manora village near Umred Karhandla Wildlife Sanctuary in Nagpur district.
Before the survey started, we installed a demo product in a field. It was the solar LED light that turns on when the sun goes down and it gets dark and it begins to blink .So that the animals do not enter the field. We installed 3 lights in 3 different directions inside farm.
We had installed the same LED light previously, its results are positive: meaning zero animals entering the field.
